When Jesus walked the earth, God's word was central to life. It was the everyday conversation of the community. They were brought together by the text, and they even agreed on a text of the week. This same ancient rythmn is available to us today! Join us in reading and commenting on what is know as the "Parashah." Imagine a community whose unity is rooted in the very word of God!

The phrase "tablets of their hearts" in Jeremiah 17:1 stands out to me. When you think about the statutes and laws being inscribed by G-d on the two tablets of stone, and then His command in Dueteronomy 6 "these commandments I give you today are to be on your hearts." These commandments were never intended to stay inscribed on just "stone" but to be inscribed on our hearts.
Prov 3:3 and 7:3 as well as 2 Cor. 3:3 (lots of three's) all discuss the tablet of the heart. Seems to be a recurring theme? As James tells us not to be just hearer's of the Word, but doers as well. We may have an intellectual assent to the truth, but if our lives are not changed, it may be time for a "heart check", and see what is written on the "tablet of our heart."
