When Jesus walked the earth, God's word was central to life. It was the everyday conversation of the community. They were brought together by the text, and they even agreed on a text of the week. This same ancient rythmn is available to us today! Join us in reading and commenting on what is know as the "Parashah." Imagine a community whose unity is rooted in the very word of God!

1 Corinthians 6:12-17
When I read through this passage at first glance I am given the thought that we are all longing for deep intimacy. Why would Paul have to write these words about sexuality if they really didn't mean something. He talks about not being mastered by anything. But many of us have been mastered by things in our lives because of this longing and pursuit for intimacy. Paul even gives us a glimpse at one thing, food. But there are so many other things, material possessions, pornography, the list goes on and on.
I really believe we are intimate creator's made for intimacy with God. Everything is permissible for me - but not everything is beneficial... but He who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit.
We have to stop and remember that the only kind of intimacy that will do is Jesus. Nothing else will do.
Forgive us Lord when we long for other things to fill only what you intended for yourself.
