G-d reveals himself when He wishes and how. Joseph is hidden from his brothers. Waiting until the right time to be revealed and known.

Another parallel with Jesus. Hidden in his birth and even today to the majority of his people. When will Judah and his brothers recognize from where their salvation comes. When G-d reveals it.

Hiddeness and Manifestation.

I have not been sure what to say about this reading this week. But the word slavery keeps ringing in my mind.

How subtle the enticement and how twisted the expectations sin can lead us toward.

They sin against their own brother. A brother who appears to look up to them and adore them as many a younger brother would to their older brothers, tries to fit in and gain their respect but he is naive and young and they are jealous of him. The evil one steps in and spurs their hearts to sell Joseph into slavery. God does not prevent it.

Ironic, those who sought to punish others with slavery found that they themselves had been sold into slavery with him. However, God blesses Joseph with the hope and promises for his life revealed to him through a dream. The other brothers can only find freedom from their slavery through the forgiveness and the reconciliation of one brother to those who sought to harm him.

We must always be self aware so that we do not allow ourselves to be deceived into treachery but to meekness and humility which comes from knowing God and His son Jesus. We do not ever fully comp rend the ugliness and sinful beings that we are. However, we are all murders, liars, slanderers, coveters....etc. If we see ourselves as otherwise, we are only fooling ourselves. We deserve nothing yet Jesus seeks to give us everything through him.

What are you a slave too?
Who are your masters?
Have you sold anyone into slavery for your own benefit?
Repent and reconcile....He can heal all things, see all things and reconcile all things.
